Step
1:
Open your photograph that you will be working with for
this tutorial.
Step
2:
We then need to duplicate our image. To duplicate your
image click on drag on the background layer in your layers
pallet ( if your layers pallet isn't already open you
can get to it by clicking on (windows < layers) or
by clicking F7 on your keyboard) and draging it into the
"create new layer" icon at the bottom of our
layers pallet.
Step
3:
With our "background copy" layer selected we
now need to go up to our top toolbar and click on (filter
< distort < lens correction).

You
will notice that the lens correction dialogue box is a
very large dialogue box. There are a lot of corrective
type items, but this tutorial will only require us to
use the setting under vignetting and ignoring the others.
Step
4:
The first setting we will be adjusting is the "amount
slider" under vignetting. Slide it to the left untill
your image starts to get darkened at the corners. For
my image I have used an amount of -60.
The
next adjustment will be made to the midpoint setting.
Drag the slider of the midpoint to the left also. The
midpoint will tell us how far into the image we want the
vignetting to happen. For my image I have chosen to use
the setting of +15. You will need to adjust both the amount
and the midpoint to suit your image. If you want the vignetting
to be a little darker you would slide the sliders further
to the left but if you want it a little lighter you would
drag it to the right.

After
you have the look you are happy with click OK.
Step
5:
The last step is to flatten your image and save. To flatten
your image, go to (layer < flatten image) along the
top toolbar.
That
concludes our tutorial for creating high quality vignettes
using Photoshop.
