Step
1:
Open your image in Adobe Photoshop.
Step
2:
Choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool from the side menu and
make a selection around the object you want reflected.
In our case it is the ship. The selection doesn't have
to be perfect. Just a rough outline will do. When you
get back to were you are started from you will have running
ants around the selection.

Step
3:
On your keyboard click on (Ctrl + J). This will paste
our selection on a new layer. With the new layer selected
go to (Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical).

This will
turn the selection upside down. Simply choose the move
tool to move the boat down under the original boat.

Step
4:
Change the blend mode on the new layer to soft light.
You will notice that now the reflection is much lighter
than the actual ship.

Step
5:
The last step is to apply a ripple effect. This will make
the illusion that the reflection is actually in the water.
Go to (Filter > Distort > Ripple). Set the size
to medium and the amount to 115%.

Step
6:
Once you are happy with the way your image looks simply
flatten your image by clicking (Layer > Flatten Image).
Congratulations.
You have now finished this tutorial.
Don't forget
to save your work when you are done.
